Ginger the Doll

Ginger the Doll is approximately 28 inches / 70 cm tall when she is standing. Ginger the Doll is so precious, but at the same time not too delicate to be handled like a toy. She has a beautiful elfish face, but she isn’t quite an elf. She is the perfect doll for a child (or an adult like me...) who loves designing and sewing clothes for dolls. You will surely end up making an entire wardrobe for her!

Ginger’s body and feet are the cutest and so realistic, but she is really quite easy to sew. Her limbs are button jointed at the shoulders and hips, which makes her a quite poseable doll. Sewing Ginger the Doll does require a good day's work, but the results are so satisfying!

Ginger the Doll works best when she is sewn with medium weight fabric such as linen or cotton. Her lush hair is achieved with velvet chenille yarn and a very simple method. The dress is a very easy to sew pillowcase style dress which can be made with a lightweight fabric such as viscose, cotton tetra or softened fine linen.

Note that my patterns all require the use of interfacing. Sewing dolls with interfaced fabric will significantly improve the structure and longevity of your dolls, making them easier to sew and more enjoyable to play with.
